At long last, the summer season is here! What better way to celebrate this long-awaited season of sun than with three refreshing watermelon cocktails recipes? Have some friends over, enjoy the patio, and sip some fabulously seasonal and delicious cocktails. Let’s get summer started right!
Bastille Cup
Yields 6-8 servings
- 3 cups amontillado sherry or Pineau des Charentes
- 2 ¼ cups fresh watermelon juice
- 3 oz. fresh lime juice
- 3 oz. maraschino liqueur
Preparation:
Combine all ingredients in a punch bowl and stir until well mixed. Chill with a large block of ice.
Yields 1 cocktail
- 1 ½ oz. London dry gin (preferably Tangueray)
- ½ oz. Dolin Blanc vermouth
- 2 oz. fresh watermelon juice
- ½ oz. simple syrup
- ½ oz. fresh lime juice
- 1 barspoon or about 1 tsp. Green Chartreuse
- 6 to 8 mint leaves
- Watermelon spear and mint sprig for garnish
Preparation:
Place ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake until well chilled. Double-strain (using a cocktail strainer for the ice, and then a fine mesh strainer for pulp and mint) into a coupe. Garnish with watermelon spear and mint sprig.
The Brazilian Smuggler
Yields 1 cocktail
- 2 oz. cachaça (preferably Velho Barreiro or Leblon)
- ½ oz. Pierre Ferrand dry curacao
- ½ oz. fresh lime juice
- ½ oz. simple syrup
- 2 oz. fresh watermelon juice
- 6 mint leaves
- Mint sprig, for garnish
Preparation:
Place ingredients in a shaker with ice and shake until chilled. Double-strain into an ice-filled Collins glass. Garnish with mint sprig.
